In what has been a really tough year for the industry, 2009 has seen Breeze Creative showered with awards at various international design competitions.
Firstly, Gold, Silver and Bronze Medals at The Wine & Spirit Design Awards in London for work on Bowmore Islay and Auchentoshan Lowland Single Malt Scotch Whisky. To top this, the Bowmore packaging was awarded a Gold Medal, the Trophy for Best Spirit Range and Trophy for Best Overall Spirit!!!
Craig Mackinlay of Breeze Creative said “This is great news for us and for Bowmore. As a creative ‘team’, we go back a long way. Bowmore did some in-depth soul-searching amongst consumers before putting together the new design brief to ensure the most emotive packaging was delivered. These awards show all the hard work has paid off.”
Across the pond, a Silver Medal for Auchentoshan at the San Francisco World Spirits Design Awards.
Finally, Breeze Creative was advised that work for Bowmore and Auchentoshan has been awarded Gold and a place in the esteemed Graphis Design Annual 2010. With entries from over 22 countries, this is the design industry’s equivalent of The Oscars. In 2007, Breeze Creative was the ONLY Scottish agency to be selected for inclusion in this prestigious publication which, established in 1944 and circulated across the globe, today continues to a distinction for photographers, designers, art directors, illustrators and product designers to be included. The award winning designs were the Auchentoshan 1962 Lowland Single Malt Scotch Whisky and Glen Garioch 1958 Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky.
It is not known at this stage whether Breeze Creative will be the only Scottish representative in the 2010 edition.
Craig Mackinlay, founder of Breeze Creative, said “All of these awards mean a lot to us and our clients. We know competition is fierce and the judges have tough decisions to make. Ultimately, too, it is imperative that great design really relates to and inspires the consumer.”
